The children are beginning to explore and discover interesting aspects of our learning centers. While in the Science /Math area, Noah carefully uses the wooded prongs to pick up tiny sea shells and place them in small glass dishes. Manipulating the wooded prongs supports fine motor skill development and sorting shells into dishes by color and shape provides opportunities for children to practice sorting and classification skills. Touching and handling the beautiful assortment of shells is a delightful sensory experience as well!
Our magnetic board and geometric shape manipulative is a wonderful math material where the children have the opportunity to express their creativity as well as experience and practice math skills such as sorting, classifying, counting and shape identification.
